Whether you are a business owner, a VP, or a digital marketer, you know that social media appears simple, but…it’s much more time-consuming than many expected at the onset. Getting video footage, memes, copy, designs, etc. is a lot to handle when you’re posting frequently. Plus, you’re probably also trying to research best practices, keep an eye on competitors, and stay relevant.

It’s a lot to handle and manage. But there are ways to keep on top of it all easily and “QIK-ly,” as I’ll explain.

One of the best tips I give social media professionals is to do what I’ve name a “QIK” process (pronounced “quick”). Here’s what we mean:

  • Q – Quick Lookup: At the beginning of each day, do a quick lookup for trending topics. You can use TikTok’s trending music, Google’s Trends, or even a fast perusal of your company feed to see what the hot topics of the day are. Once you have some topics already chosen, it’s much easier to come up with content.
  • U – User engagement: engage with your “users” (or subscribers) daily. This will not only make them feel closer to you, it will keep you informed as to their real pain points and what they care about most. It also enhances the “know, like, and trust” feeling for them. They do need to feel like they know you, like you, and trust you. Staying engaged with them will significantly assist in this endeavor.
  • I – Is it scroll-stopping? (By “scroll-stopping,” we mean simply that users/viewers will be interested enough to stop scrolling.) Evaluate this for each post, video, etc. A little attention to this self-managed metric will yield amazing results. Each piece you post can and should stop people in their tracks. As you’re working on content, design, video, etc., check in with yourself and ask “Is this scroll-stopping?” If the answer is “no,” what will make it so? If the answer is “yes,” continue with the post idea.
  • K – Kiss the winners: At the end of the day, check your metrics and see which posts got the most engagement and meaningful results. By “kiss the winners,” we mean you should build a relationship with the topics and styles that are working. And the losers, well, we thought it was a little violent to say “kill the losers,” so save those losers on the backburner and try them again later if you think they deserve another chance in social land.

Try applying QIK to your next social media campaign and see how it improves your results. Let us know how it goes!
